NCNational Committee for Logic, History and Philosophy of Science

The National Committee for Logic, History and Philosophy of Science promotes research activities in the fields of logic, history, and philosophy of science in Belgium and ensures the international representation of Belgian scientific research. It brings together scholars from different linguistic communities and disciplines in Belgium. Every two years, the Committee organises the Young Researchers Days, a small-scale conference for early-career researchers. The National Committee is part of RASAB and is based at the Royal Academies in Brussels.

The main objectives of the National Committee are:

  • to represent Belgian scientific research at the international level by acting as a member or spokesperson in international organisations (IUHPS/DHST and IUHPS/DMPLS, European Society of History of Science);
  • to coordinate Belgian scientific research by establishing collaborations and joint projects with other institutions;
  • to integrate historical and philosophical studies of science;
  • to stimulate general interest in the history of (Belgian) science and to disseminate the results of contemporary scientific research to a broader audience.
