The National Committee for Logic, History and Philosophy of Sciences is looking for a part time (80%) scientific assistant (m/f/x) to support its project BESTOR (Belgian Science and Technology Online Resources), based in the Academies' buildings, Rue Ducale 1, Brussels.
The employee will mainly be responsible for:
- Assisting with the conversion of the database to a Drupal environment in cooperation with external partners
- Administrative and organisational support of National Committee activities
- Translating existing BESTOR notes into English
- Additional: promotion of the project to target groups; management of the website and social media; occasional creation, correction and updating of notes in French, Dutch and English
This concerns an 80% appointment for a duration of 1 year, with a start date of October 1, 2024 (or earlier). This appointment is extendable.
Requirements:
- University master's degree (expertise in, or interest in, Belgian history of science is an important asset)
- Good command of Dutch, French and English
- Good writing skills, especially in English
- Knowledge of (or experience with) managing a website (in particular Mediawiki or Drupal)
- Experience with Mediawiki or Drupal is an asset, as well as expertise in other programming languages (e.g., HTML, PHP, MySQL)
- Knowledge of (or experience with) social media and online promotion of cultural projects in the field of science communication / public history is an asset
- Knowledge of (or experience with) the organisation, fundraising, and public relations of scientific and/or cultural projects is an asset
