Researchers at KU Leuven (Joris Vandendriessche, Tinne Claes and Kaat Wils) are preparing a new research project and are looking for healthcare professionals willing to think along about how privacy-sensitive medical materials are handled today. This includes items such as patient files, artworks created by patients in a therapeutic context, and human remains acquired within a local medical context.
The aim is to gain a better understanding of the current needs and challenges related to the preservation, processing and accessibility of such materials for historical research and museum presentation. Based on these insights, the future project seeks to develop, together with the healthcare and heritage sectors, broadly supported guidelines that take ethical sensitivities and professional practice into account.
Interested parties may contact Joris Vandendriessche (Joris.Vandendriessche@kuleuven.be). A first exploratory meeting on this topic will take place on 22 January 2026 (afternoon) in Leuven. For more information, click here.
