The J. Gillis Prize is intended to reward important original work in the field of the history of scientific thought written in Dutch or English. The prize is awarded every two years and was first awarded in 1970. The prize is awarded by the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and Arts, on the proposal of the committee appointed for the purpose.
