Geboren op 31 augustus 1884 in Gent en overleden op 22 maart 1956 in Cambridge.

Doctor in de fysica en wiskunde, voerde een tijdlang waarnemingen uit aan de Koninklijke Sterrenwacht van België. Oprichter van de wetenschapshistorische tijdschriften Isis en Osiris.
